Jess Fernandez:
I have had a life-long passion for aviation. As a child, I remember my dad taking me to the airport to watch planes take off and land and I was fascinated by them. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to turn my love for aviation into a career. I have been involved in aviation at Van Nuys, Burbank and Whiteman airports for the past 30 years and currently hold a multiengine Airline Transport Pilot certificate with approximately 7,000 hrs. of flight time and continue to fly commercially. During all these years, I have established many contacts within the aviation industry that have helped pave the way for our commercial students to get jobs after obtaining their certificates and logging their required hours. As background, I began managing and leasing back airplanes to flight schools at Van Nuys in 2007. Last year, I decided it was time to start my own flight school and formed Wings Over L.A. Aviation, LLC which I actively run with very able help from Shane Braddock, my Operations Manager, and a group of highly qualified instructors. Shane has extensive flight school management experience, having spent close to four years running the day-to-day operations at one of our large competitors. Shane is also an instrument rated pilot and is a great source of information and guidance for our pilots. Our goal at Wings Over L.A. is to provide a range of clean, well maintained airplanes, top professional instructors and comfortable facilities at very competitive rates in a friendly environment. We are the only flight school at Van Nuys that can take a student from private pilot to multi-engine commercial and ATP. I hope you come visit us and give us a chance to show you around.

Marc Jay:
Marc Jay has had a passion for aviation since an early age, so he jumped at the chance to earn his private pilot license when he took a job near the Van Nuys Airport in 1999. He earned the license in 2001 and hasn’t looked back. Marc went on to earn his Commercial Multi Engine Instrument rating, and from there became a CFI-A / CFII.
Marc has recently retired from his full time job supporting the Engineering Division of Aerojet Rocketdyne which is working on the RS-25 Rocket Engine. The RS-25 is a ‘souped-up’ version of the older Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME), which is human- rated and is slated to power the new Space Launch System to explore deep space, and even Mars. The thrust provided by the RS-25 system could keep 8 Boeing 747’s aloft!
Marc brings an enthusiastic wealth of aerospace and aviation knowledge to the table. He enjoys flight instructing and retired early to make it his full time career.

Tom Kinog:
Tom has loved everything aviation since he was young, and was immediately hooked on flying after taking his first Discovery Flight. He quickly earned his certificates and ratings up through Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument. He is currently working full time as a flight instructor while also attending CSUN for a degree in Computer Science. He hopes to be an airline pilot down the road, and in the meantime is always looking to improve as a pilot and instructor, and to pass on his skills and knowledge with his students and all who share his passion for aviation.

Costi Margaronis:
Originally from Greece, Costi grew up in Switzerland and served in the Swiss Army before moving to the United States. Following his childhood dream of becoming a pilot, he started flight training in the Los Angeles area and Florida, eventually becoming a Flight Instructor. Costi is currently an Airline Transport Pilot, with more than 3,500 flight hours. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife Maria and son Shahin, and of course, traveling.
